Though I am reminded of Japan. When I was little "made in Japan" was an insult. By my teen years the Japanese automakers were slaughtering Detroit in terms of quality and price. It was a massacre. Could China do the same?

The S Koreans are almost caught with the Japanese. I'm sure China can do at least as well given their apparently much greater resources. In my own industry, we import some China products for less than the cost of materials here, and we are able to sell them at a very favorable margin. The quality is generally excellent.
