Tim --

Some of your prior posts had made me wonder if you were over in Jackson. The Hoback area is nice.

The house we're re-doing consists of twelve windows (two bays that count as three windows each), mostly sliders, very average sizes. House is gutted, so there is no clean-up to do afterwards, no worrying about drywall, etc, very easy access. Renewal by Andersen wanted $22K after the discounts (started at $28K!); Marvin "only" wanted $17K (started at $24K). Marvin basically "gave" us two days to make a decision -- not happening.

After the Marvin sales pitch (this past Monday), we stopped by ViewPoint Windows just north of Victor. This is a small chain ( but definitely got the impression that the owner pretty much does his own thing. Haven't gotten to talking price yet, but Reg seemed knowledgeable and reasonable. They sell Milgard, Sierra Pacific, Loewen, and I think a couple of others. We are leaning towards the Sierra Pacific if the cost isn't too bad -- hoping to go for triple pane even.

A taller ladder is not the answer -- couple sets of scaffolding really makes things easy!
