Breaking: Greta Thunberg is Time’s 2019 Person of the Year. A Wonderful Choice!

‘Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.’ - Margaret Mead

“She symbolizes the agony, the frustration, the desperation, the anger—at some level, the hope—of many young people who won’t even be of age to vote by the time their futures are doomed,” says Varshini Prakash, 26, who co-founded the Sunrise Movement, a U.S. youth advocacy group pushing for a Green New Deal.”

WOW....the orange one must be having another hissey fit!

WOW....the orange one must be having another hissey fit!

Expect Goober Soviet Nation to bombard them Internets today with allegations that Greta has been Hillary's longtime assistant in that pizza basement that runs the child sex ring. Well, prove that she isn’t!

Trump will then state that he doesn’t actually know, but since people are saying it, there should be an investigation. Barr will launch the investigation by Friday.

In passing, Trump will also insult her looks.

At present, none of the world’s 20 largest economies, responsible for 70 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions, have increased their modest and inadequate carbon-reduction pledges since the Paris Agreement of 2015. None is expected to do so in Madrid....

I trust my environmentalist friends are going to take Gretta's pledge not to do any more TRAVEL powered by fossil fuel?

No jet transports, cruise ships, railroad passenger trains or automobiles!

HEALTHY walking and bicycling vacations!

Perhaps if enough environmentalists take that pledge you can turn Greta's scowl upside down!

Person of the year isn't a performance award. It is given to whoever "for better or for worse has done the most to influence the events of the year."

Past awardees include Joseph Stalin, Nikita Khrushchev, Ayatolla Khomeini, Newt Gingrich, Ken Starr, and Donald Trump.

COP25 news and views: What’s happening in Madrid
www.euractiv.com/section/climate-environment/news/cop25-news...
As most delegates and observers at COP25, the European Commission has admitted it had to fly to Madrid, implying a heavy carbon footprint. “We were looking for our delegates to come here by train, but it would have taken 14 hours, and the price was three times higher,” said Elina Bardram, head of international unit at the Commission’s climate action directorate (DG Clima). “As we rely on taxpayer money, we couldn’t make that choice,” she said.

Greta has the super ability to make idiots uncomfortable for dangers they choose to ignore. I suppose when California or Manhattan are underwater, or New Jersey gets hit with another storm so bad that Chris Christy can sing another theme song how NJ is “Stronger than the storm”, just doesn’t cut it anymore... maybe THEN what Greta is saying won’t sound so dumb to those idiots.

Don’t think it’s only Republicans that are stupid either. Moderate Democrats who want to sing Kumbaya, hold hands and rejoin the Paris Agreement, which holds no one accountable for anything, are just as incompetent.

Jet transports? Trains? Fossil fueled transport isn't likely to turn Greta's scowl upside down!

Instead, they should be setting an example by bicycling to such events!

Al Gore predicted twenty years ago that coastal cities would be flooded by this time. But those predictions have failed to occur.

Indeed, "scientific" models have uniformly failed to predict that global temperature haven't increased in 15 years.

Of course, if it were "science" the theories would be discarded. Instead, they are merely tinkered with to come up with models that are adjusted to conform to what has actually occurred ----but that's the way politics works, not science.

^ A very, very strange comment.

Global temperature anomalies in degrees C:

2003: 0.6
2018: 0.8

0.8 degrees C increase is very close to what James Hansen predicted in his Scenario B back in 1988, FWIW.

Trump will also insult her...

Well that didn’t take long,

Trump attacks Greta Thunberg for being Time's 'Person of the Year'

"So ridiculous," Trump said on Twitter. "Greta must work on her Anger Management problem, then go to a good old fashioned movie with a friend! Chill Greta, Chill!"

On social media, critics described Trump's tweet as equivalent to bullying a child. Former White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci, now a fierce critic of Trump, called him "a bully and a punk" for attacking Thunberg. "No normal person would find this sort of behavior tolerable," he tweeted. "Much less from a global leader. @realDonaldTrump is a despicable person."

This spoiled child has chosen to be a political actor, and makes herself subject to political attacks when she does so. It's absurd to plead that you are an innocent child when you are making angry, insulting political attacks on the world from the podium of the United Nations.

In short -----tough.

I agree.

I think Greta and Trump have a lot in common. Too bad Democrats can't nominate her to be President ----she is the only candidate likely to give Trump a run for his money!
