To all- thanks much for the advice. i've read King's "On Writing" and found it very motivating. i have to say, i also found many of your posts to be the same. i know that the only way to be a writer is to sit and write. i guess i needed to hear it again. i've also enjoyed the dialogue of how each of our ideas generate in different ways.JB--i particularly liked your running metaphor. i am a runner, so i could totally relate. i used to take a secret pride in beating a running partner who boasted about his extensive reading of Runner's World and marathon training books. I always thought that if he'd stop reading and just run, it would make minutes' difference in his time.one last thing, which is not meant to be critical, but liss, im a she. maybe you were just choosing gender for ease of writing, but i think all writers need to address their own assumptions about gender in order to included women in places they've been excluded for so long. off to write, wanderer
