Hi Fools,

I have a question for you: is it too late to be contemplating buying a house in your mid 50s?

The facts are these: my husband & I are both mid 50s. We are behind on retirement savings. We work in different states. We bought a house for him to live in in an affordable state. I rent in a major city.

We are contemplating buying an apt for me, getting sick of paying rent. BUT we would be spending just about all of our stock fund to buy the house. (We have work pensions that would go untouched).

Any thoughts you have would be most appreciated.

happy 2016!
