To improve your scores, you will need to look at the reasons given for your score - both positive and negative. Keep doing the positive ones, and try to resolve the negative ones. Only if one of your negative reasons is that you have too many accounts available should you even think about closing an account.

Sorry AJ, I must've read part of your post really fast. After re-reading it, I have 2 bad things on my report.

1. - Delinquent accounts that were overdue 90 days several times. (these happened about 4-5yrs ago due to layoffs during the DOT COM days). The only way to fix those is time...they will age off

2. - Recently applied for credit within 12 months. So again with those, time will age those off so I will hold off on applying for anything like a credit card or mortgage til at least beginning of next year.
