Today's the day. Alaska, Iowa, Mississippi, and Missouri all end unemployment benefits today. The reason for doing so is because the governors of those states believe that people are just refusing to work and that denying them unemployment will motivate them to accept all the job offers these lazy people are rejecting.

Here in Michigan, Lowe's has street signs asking people to apply for jobs paying $15 dollars an hour.

And in Ann Arbor, I just received an email from a fairly high end Pizza Restaurant offering a free pizza to anyone filling in an application for employment- and a $300 signing bonus for anyone hired.

I imagine that Republicans want to nip such "wealth redistribution" trends in the bud.

If they're hungry, there's no need to raise wages.
