(Todd:)I'm feeling a little guilty, so I'm going to make a confession. ;-) This past January, I actually bought 12 shares of KMP ($500 or so worth) in a taxable account. In doing so, I violated irasmilo's rule -- I bought them without realizing ahead of time the tax consequences of buying into an MLP. (And I don't have a CPA.)

With an investment that small, you're not going to any numbers that need to be reported to any state other than your own.


Except those states that still believe you should file if you have $1 of income. <vbg> (I'd let them come after me first.)
