Too late to get into the business model as getting through alll the alleged shortcomings and disclaimers as to why one might not think so highly of the tech.

As I have gone through the examples, Mongo is proving everyone wrong.

The latest is the 4.0 ACID multiple document release. However, we have not even talked about the already planning and working no 4.2 stage of the offering:

<<<In MongoDB 4.0, which will be released this summer*, transactions will work across a single replica set, and MongoDB 4.2* will support transactions across a sharded deployment.>>>

Short part of a Mongo CTO blog.

One thing that the CTO makes clear is that <<<MongoDB 4.0 will add support for multi-document transactions, making it the only database to combine the speed, flexibility, and power of the document model with ACID data integrity guarantees. >>>

Sure, sure, we have to see how this 3 year engineering project pans out in beta. However, I am pretty confident they will bring it around.

This has to be a huge selling point when choosing a database. Sure, you choose some databases specifically for a limited use case, but if you want a general database, being the only such database with this feature has to be a positive at minimum.
