<<I wanted to read the FAQ on this board but how do I access it? I tried a moment ago but instead of there being a FAQ to read I just got a bar asking for a keyword to search. >>

Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a FAQ for this board. (It's often up to board residents to create one. That's much more efficient than waiting for a TMFer to get to it.)

<< What I was actually looking for was advice on a good book that would help me learn, in very clear (novice) style, how to read a financial statement. Some kind of a workbook perhaps (is this included in the new Fool Investment Workbook I have seen?).>>

The Motley Fool Investment Workbook (http://www.foolmart.com/market/books/BooksIndividual.asp?bookid=142) *does* go into reading financial statements -- a little. It's a good start. For a fairly easy to read but more in-depth treatment, I'd recommend John Tracy's "How to Read a Financial Report" (http://www.foolmart.com/market/books/BooksIndividual.asp?bookid=159).

Perhaps some other folks can recommend some other resources...

Cheers!
