Last spring, Seahawks DE Frank Clark refused to sign his franchise tag, so Seattle traded him to KC for a first and second round draft pick. I mention that because it sets a rough value for top level DE's.

Also last spring, Houston DE Jadeveon Clowney refused to sign his franchise tag, so Houston traded him to Seattle for a third round pick (which Seattle will likely get back) and DE/LBs Barkevious Mingo and Jacob Martin. Mingo has been underwhelming and was in doubt of even making the roster. Martin is a young, inexpensive player with some upside but mostly unproven at this point. Oh, and Houston is paying half of Clowney's salary this season.

I can't quite figure out how this happened.
