My school has an aging LaserDisc player that I use frequently with a video based math program. We have been told that when the LaserDisc player dies, it will not be replaced. I want to move the videos which are no longer available on to DVDs.

I will be using an iBook G4 to capture the video and save it onto a networked drive. I need to buy something that can take the analog output from the LaserDisc player and change it to digital that iMovie can capture. I am leaning toward the Sony MiniDV Camcorder (DCR-HC28). It has analog inputs and Firewire output.

Is what I've described workable? Is there an easier way to accomplish what I'm trying to do?
