Treat your rack of ribs as you would a brisket.

Do you all use the same rub for both kinds of meat?

Nope. I've only smoked two (maybe three) briskets over the years and, sorry, but I can't find the rub recipe I used. However, I know it had a good amount of various spices, but was heavily weighted towards black pepper.

For ribs I usually have a cryopack of three racks from Costco. The Boss doesn't like spicy, so I only use salt and pepper on two of the racks (no sauce either) and my homemade pork butt rub on the third, along with my World Famous BBQ Sauce.

How do you guys go about spicing your ribs?

The majority of the time I rub and allow to rest in the fridge overnight before puttin' 'em in the smoker the next day.

However, if we're camping, I wipe 'em clean with paper towels, rub/season 'em, fire up the grill and cook 'em.
