True, but 2% you still losing money, cant even beat inflation!

That's funny, the federal gov't said there was no inflation. They even said there was a risk of deflation. You aren't calling them a liar, are you? :-)

In my case, I did as one of the other posters suggested and paid off my house. Did the I-Bonds but won't be doing any more. Lots of money in ING. CDs and money markets aren't doing anything, so I don't know what else to tell you. You have a pretty high risk of selling at a loss if you're in real estate or stocks for 1 to 3 years -- the transaction costs with real estate are horrible and fraud is apparently rampant in stocks and mutual funds.
