“A loose network of conservative operatives allied with the White House is pursuing what they say will be an aggressive operation to discredit news organizations deemed hostile to President Trump by publicizing damaging information about journalists,” the New York Times reports.“It is the latest step in a long-running effort by Mr. Trump and his allies to undercut the influence of legitimate news reporting. Four people familiar with the operation described how it works, asserting that it has compiled dossiers of potentially embarrassing social media posts and other public statements by hundreds of people who work at some of the country’s most prominent news organizations.”“The research is said to extend to members of journalists’ families who are active in politics, as well as liberal activists and other political opponents of the president.”https://politicalwire.com/2019/08/25/trump-allies-move-to-di...- Blackmail?- No more free press, only media in support of the party in power?- One of the ugliest aspects of the Herr Drumpf admin :-(
- Blackmail?- No more free press, only media in support of the party in power?- One of the ugliest aspects of the Herr Drumpf admin :-( Anyone with less than half a brain might think that's no big deal. Hovever, think for a moment about a country where townhall, breitbart, gatway pundit and their ilk will be/would be "authoritative" sources of information. Think back over some of the nonsense you've seen presented as truth. Orwell never even imagined...
<<- Blackmail?- No more free press, only media in support of the party in power?- One of the ugliest aspects of the Herr Drumpf admin :-(>>Oh, boo hoo!You want to play politics ----fine. Don't whine when you are treated like the political opposition ---which you are.Seattle Pioneer
Oh boo boo!</>As FW said in his response:Anyone with less than half a brain might think that's no big deal.
- No more free press, only media in support of the party in power?Twitter turns off his account. Problem solved.
"Oh, boo hoo!" says Seattle PioneerSP, do you really not see the real danger in a President actually assembling journalists who favor him, to help SILENCE other journalists who criticize him? I can't believe you are so short sighted.Maryanne
I can. There's no attempt at good faith. He responds to every political post with the expressed intention of sticking it to any and all liberals for their (supposed) historical battle against blue-collar workers. Never mind that it's conservatives, long champions of deregulation and economic free-for-all-ism, who have starkly betrayed the stability of most American workers. There's a basic bait-and-switch involved. Liberals defend the rights of women, minorities, and the poor. And that's an unforgivable sin to those with deep-seated discomfort about "others." They cast false economic blame because their social insecurities override their powers of analysis.Steve

I can't believe you are so short sighted.Maryanne>>The New York Times and Washington Post, among many others, abandoned their status as "journalists" the night of the election. They became the PRINCIPLE organized political opposition to Trump and the Republicans at least until the 2018 elections. They are entitled to be a political opposition if they wish. But since they have chosen that stautus, they deserve to be treated as the political opposition, not as "journalists," which they aren't.Suppose the Democratic National Committee declared they were journalists entitled to attend White House press conferences. That's the status much of the media has today. Why they want to be spoon fed by Trump is a mystery, in any case.Seattle Pioneer
<<Oh boo boo!</>As FW said in his response:>>PLEASE quote me accurately! That was boo hoo!Seattle Pioneer
That's an interesting claim to make, salted with the usual liberal condescension to those who reject the power of liberals to rule over them.Of course, if the claim were true, you wouldn't have the working class voting very heavily for Trump in 2016, and remaining heavily in support of Trump to this day. This inability to accept working class rejection of liberal rule led directly to Trump's election in 2016, and is likely leading to Trump's re election in 2020.In short, saying it doesn't make it so.Seattle Pioneer
At this thread: Oh, please. The entire time the Obama administration was in office the press did nothing but cover for the man and his miserably inept Presidency. “Journolisters” (liberals are free to google it up) coordinated stories and did whatever they could to help Obama out. They blew all their credibility years ago. They need to start doing their jobs and stop being democrat shills to get back what they’ve lost.
Sad to see liberals defending those racists posts of the so called journalist. c
Hey! Not fair! This is only supposed to be done AGAINST CONSERVATIVES! Like Media Matters has for years.Kudos to the good guys for finally responding.vq
SP, do you really not see the real danger in a President actually assembling journalists who favor him, to help SILENCE other journalists who criticize him? I was appalled when the President kicked journalists with against whom he held grudges off of his plane. But is was actually 0bama that did that! PA Lefties seemed to take that in stride."Obama Boots Reporters From Conservative Papers""Barack Obama's campaign has booted from its airplane three reporters who work for newspapers that have endorsed John McCain. The campaign says that a limited number of seats forced it to make the tough decision of which journalists would be permitted to follow the Democratic presidential candidate..." blah blah blah what lieshttps://abcnews.go.com/Politics/Vote2008/story?id=6156794&am...
Journalists? lol... They aren't that anymore...They are political operatives with set agendas and narratives.Journalists have discredited themselves, each year more and more people trust them less and less, a trend that isn't going to stop.
". Four people familiar with the operation described how it works, asserting that it has compiled dossiers of potentially embarrassing social media posts and other public statements by hundreds of people who work at some of the country’s most prominent news organizations.”If one is ashamed of having their words seen or heard by all then they should not be saying or posting their words. Its tough to deny ones own words.
I can't believe you are so short sighted.Hmmm . . . Anyone who is a Trump cult member has to be extremely short sighted. But if you had been reading his posts for very long, you would certainly have guessed about just how misguided and short sighted this poster is.
Hey! Not fair! This is only supposed to be done AGAINST CONSERVATIVES! Like Media Matters has for years.Kudos to the good guys for finally responding.Bingo. The game works like this:*Media Matters digs for dirt.*The lamestream media reports it as a story.Places like the NYT then get to say, "We were only reporting on what's widely out there!" and claim innocence. It's been a con. These same people doxx private citizens who get a little too uppity as well (see the guy that made the CNN wrestling video).I say: GREAT. Let these people have all their racist and anti semitic garbage thrown out there for everyone to see. What's even better is that none other than the WaPoo told the NYT to shut up and stop whining:https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2019/08/26/breitbart...There’s an incompatibility in the Times story and the Sulzberger memo: On one hand, there’s an attempt to tar the motivations of the “loose network of conservative operatives”; on the other, there’s a stubborn admission that they have brought actionable information to public attention. For decades now, representatives of the mainstream media have answered conservative critiques by imploring: Judge us by the work we produce, not by the fact that more than 90 percent of us are liberal/Democratic. Mainstreamers cannot have it both ways. Cut the idle and unverifiable talk about motivations. If the tweets presented by the “loose network of conservative operatives” are racist or anti-Semitic or otherwise problematic, take action. If they’re nonsensical distractions, ignore them.
