He says he can pardon himself. People in Congress and the media say that would result in immediate impeachment. Impeachment on what grounds? The Constitution says "high crimes and misdemeanors". Where is there a clear law prohibiting self-pardon? If there is no law against it, he can do it. The pardon might be challenged in court, but, by the time the case made it to SCOTUS, Trump will have finished his term.

What did Nixon in was incontrovertible proof of him giving orders to shut down the Watergate investigation by the FBI. *That* is obstruction of justice, a crime.
