Trust Ian to make the Ugly American even uglier. When he was yelling, "Didi mau!" at the vendors, two thoughts went through my head. One was Bart Simpson saying, "Which part of didi mau do you not understand?" The other was seeing an old guy on the dock who was probably thinking, "I should have greased your ass when I had the chance.

I actually thought Ian was better in this episode than in the others. He seemed to be a lot more mellow - I think his anticipation of going back to Vietnam was on his mind - and since all the teams were bunched up together, it outweighted his usual stress.

I don't think Ian was at all "ugly" in asking about the fruit in Vietnamese. What else do you do? You ask around so people can point in the right direction. And this is an outdoor Asian market - yelling is part of the norm. It's certainly better than yelling for it in English - like the brothers did. I think screaming at the vendors in English is a lot more ugly-American.

Can't stand Flo. Can't wait for her to go. They are going to crack. Go brothers go!
