I'm more than a bit surprised at TurboTax this year.

When I'm filling out my State taxes, it said you 'may' have to include Fed Exempt Interest which we already included.
And it prompted to fill in the amount.
Confused, I filled it in.

I went to forms and they seem to be adding it twice.
I went back into interview and didn't put in an amount and it seems to jive.

Just FYI.

paying for tax prep s/w that actually is 'fill in the blanks' and trusting it seems to be questionable.

PS - we don't fill in forms anymore and they are hard to come by.
I feel bad for young folks...pencil,forms and books worked years ago and gave you an idea of what goes where

Free fillable forms are available on IRS.gov Here's the pub on how to use them: https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p5274.pdf

I use TaxACT, and this year, it prompted me to go through a couple of sections twice when it was dissatisfied with my initial answers--end-of-section CONTINUE took me back to the start of the just completed section.

I went through the section again, without making any changes, and after the second pass, end-of-section CONTINUE took me to the subsequent section in both cases.
