This is a fund whose value is based on stock market volatility, right? What did you hope to get out of this? I mean, maybe someone would have bought oil futures thinking the price of oil was down and had to go up, or bought small cap value thinking it would outperform large cap growth...s/he could still be wrong, but there's a thought process behind the purchase. I'm curious as to what your thinking was about buying a volatility index. Or did it just go way up one time and you hoped it would happen again?

I'm not trying to be critical, but am trying to figure out why people would buy this kind of fund.
