... a couple of articles by Rick Ferri in Forbes and Larry Swedroe on CBS Money Line wherein they take different positions on Tips and their possible risks.... and argue their points in the comments.

Ferri, "The Dark Side of Tips";http://www.forbes.com/2009/12/04/ferri-deficit-rea...

Swedroe, "Do Tips Have a Dark Side?"; http://moneywatch.bnet.com/investing/blog/wise-inv...

From Jack over on the RYR board.

A third of my portfolio is in these WendyTips bought at 90 in Nov/Dec2008. 912828ea4 and 912828cp3. Currently at 106.625 or so. http://cxa.marketwatch.com/finra/BondCenter/BondDetail.aspx?...

Basically - if rates go up, but inflation does not go up, these TIPS positions get slaughtered. I bought them because they were mis-priced and I had a wheelbarrel full of MMF to put to use in a very scary market.
