The law makes no exceptions for nonviable pregnancies in which the fetus has no chance of survival.

...

Many physicians say they cannot intervene in complex pregnancies that may not pose an immediate threat to the patient but can rapidly spin out of control. Some hesitate to counsel patients about the option of termination, or refer them to doctors in other states, for fear their advice could be interpreted as aiding an abortion.

...

...the law can disrupt care for pregnant women who have underlying health problems that are not immediately life-threatening, such as pulmonary hypertension or certain types of cancer.

“It’s one of the most egregious invasions of the physician-patient relationship that we’ve ever seen,” said Dr. Rick Snyder, a cardiologist in Dallas who is chair of the board of trustees of the Texas Medical Association.

And Republicans think asking--ASKING!--if you're vaccinated against covid is an invasion of privacy!

Yep.

Women in other countries with strict anti abortion laws have died due to similar issues. Physicians afraid to treat women mid miscarriage who then bleed out or become septic. mothers jailed for having a miscarriage accused of trying to self abort.

That’s where Republicans want to go.

Passing laws that have everything to do with religion and nothing to do with medicine will kill women. Tying the hands of doctors will kill women.

They don't care. That is the bottom line. The Republicans in power care only about satisfying their Christo-fascist base and staying in power. The Christo-fascist base care only about keeping women knocked up, barefoot, and compliant in the kitchen and bedroom, serving as their "God's" incubators, and having no other role in world affairs.

If the Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade, we're going to repeat the horrors of so many Catholic countries, wherein religion determines the degree to which women are actually considered "free."

SLL,

If the supreme court over turns Roe v Wade women will quit playing footsies with national politics and get serious about freedom which happens at the state level.

Roe v Wade was a terrible decision that has harmed the Union and democracy. Worse, it allows “The Job Creators” to enslave women and take away their rights on a daily basis. Pull Roe v Wade, see the political battles move to local campaigns and the local quit playing tidily winks with sound bites start legislating.

Worse, the over looking of local politics has allowed massive local corruption. It is really bad. I cannot point it out do to the anecdotal and verbal nature of evidence, but I have noticed it growing over the last 30 years.

A woman was convicted of manslaughter in Oklahoma for having a miscarriage. That isn't another country, though maybe it should be. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2021/10/21/oklaho...
