DOJ sued Texas for violating the Voting Rights Act, saying its aggressive, outrageously gerrymandered new districts discriminate against minority voters. That amounts to understatement.

95% of Texas’s population growth in the past decade is from Black, Latinos, and Asians. The new maps dilute all 3 groups’ voting power and strengthen that of white voters.

But Whites make up 40% of the population but will now control 60% of the districts.

Latinos make up 39% of the population but will control a meager 20% of the districts.

Blacks make up 12% of the population but will control a tiny 2% of the districts.

Asians make up 5% of the population but will control NO districts.

Bottom line: yet another GOP attempt to obliterate democracy.
