I made my picks on December 9, so going strictly on YTD may not be fair, but it's the easiest measure, and technically these are "for 2007". So the (almost) one month results:

S&P 500: -0.61%

Given my blessing (CAPS Overperform calls)

1. PRAA: -5.35%

2. DWSN: -9.20%

3. WLT: +3.11%

4. MIDD: +5.89%

Mixed bag there. DWSN and PRAA both closed the year close to where they were when I picked them.

Moderately recommended

5. TPX: +3.08%

6. ASEI: -8.97%

7. ENCY: -18.05%

8. LRW: +2.24%

9. ELOS: -9.44%

10. KONG: -16.8%

The good news is I managed to avoid putting the biggest losers in the ones I actually picked for CAPS. The bad news is I still liked most of them.

Not recommended

11. ATHR: +10.23%

12. PAAS: +9.26%

13. FORM: +5.61%

14. TXRH: +1.89%

15. VLCM: +10.38%

Wow, I suck (so far) at rating small caps. The top 3 performers all made my "not recommended" list, and all of my not recommended are beating the S&P 500.

The year is still early. My VLCM pick in particular was rather long term, same with PRAA. I've recently added KONG to my CAPS list as an overperform, as I like it at this price. That and DWSN are looking like potential real life pick-ups.
