Used to seriously frost eldest child's cookies...

Heh. When he was a tween, I made my older son carry a flip phone, on an AT&T GoPhone plan. He found it so humiliating, like I was making him go to school in a diaper or something. Eventually, he "lost" it, so I gave him my 5S as a nearly-falling-apart hand-me-down, and then he went on a long Boy Scout excursion (National Jamboree) that required a new smartphone (new to have a fresh battery) to run some app, so I got him the SE. But by then, he was a responsible teen.

I later got him a Nike Apple Watch, because he's also an athlete and, I thought, could use the apps. But by then, he was so hyper-careful of nice things that he didn't want to take it out of its box, use it, and possibly lose or damage it. After a year of him not using it, I finally managed to "force" him to use it -- I forget how -- and now he wears it all the time.
