Veloci,You stated that IF I had a Lebanese friend. I had said I did prior. That implies I'm a liar. Then, I went on to post the following article:BEIRUT, Sept. 3 -- Lebanon's parliament voted overwhelmingly Friday to extend the term of Syrian-backed President Emile Lahoud, ignoring U.N. calls to hold an election to choose the head of state. Fireworks boomed over Beirut's city center, which security forces locked down before the vote in parliament.http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A60441-2004Sep3.htmlI can also tell you that Lebanese I know consider Israel and Ariel Sharon much more of a problem than Syria. As I said, Syria was invited in. You can blame Lebanon's problems on the Palestinians if you see fit. I can tell you that Israel's bombing of Beirut killed Lebanese, destroyed a beautiful city, and Ariel Sharon is a curseword to many there. However, I feel for Lebanon. The Lebanese are beautiful, intelligent, lovely people who have been taken advantage of by both Syria and Israel. And I feel greatly for the Palestinians, even those inside Lebanon. They, more than any other group, have gotten a raw deal.
