I don't know where you are getting your info, but DCU is available to employees from a host of companies, and is available across the country. From their website, these are the current companies whose employees can join https://www.dcu.org/about/member-eligibility.html Looks pretty extensive to me.

If DCU doesn't work for you, then don't join, but for quite a number of people including me, it works very well.

At least get your information correct before you start spreading it.
