The OP suggests these $1 million shiteboxes in China are five years old, while the two lads giving us the tour are telling us they are only 3, possibly 4 years old.

This is Potemkin Village construction with the worst materials available.

Well, sure... putting up buildings that will last several years can be way too complex...

But we can expect much better results from their airplanes and automobiles... I wonder if there will be limits on how many one person or company can buy?

Or naval vessels... we need to check out if they would be willing to build ships for the US Navy... it's likely that their prices would be quite affordable!

You realize that your iPhone was made in China, right? And Apple wouldn't make their phones in the US if the labor was free.

Under adult supervision. Right?

I posted that 2018 video here on METAR last Saturday:
https://boards.fool.com/ormontus-comments-great-video-here-t...

Then 3 days later the same video gets posted on Twitter and linked on METAR.

What are the coincidences? Did someone read my METAR post and then post the vid on Twitter, then another METAR user sees it and brings it back to METAR? My head hurts. It's not a recent video...

Correct. The point is that not all Chinese construction is crap. Even in that video, those two guys gave you the names of two national Chinese contractors with reputations for quality.

Don't let a half-a$$ analysis cost you money.

That is what a lot of the US would look like without "big gummit burdens on the job creator class" like consumer protection laws and building codes.

The state of Michigan requires paving contractors to warranty their work, but the state usually does not enforce the warranties. I have seen newly rebuilt roads, meaning they took the old road down to dirt, rebuilt the foundation and laid new concrete, start to break up in 6 months.

Even with protections, USians have had a lot of crap foisted on them, like LP "Innerseal" siding, which was compressed sawdust. We get millwork that is made of glued up bits of wood scrap. One of the supposedly well regarded window manufacturers touts it's replacement window line made of "Fibrex", which is claimed to be far superior to vinyl. What is "Fibrex"? Vinyl mixed with sawdust.

We may not have food laced with melamine, like is produced in China, but we get snouts, spleens, brains and lungs ground up and sold as "meat".

So what are the solutions offered to USians being stuck with crap? Proposals to make it harder, if not impossible, to file class action suits against the sellers and "tort reform" to cap damage awards against the sellers at a trivial amount.

Hey Steve, let me jump in before the others and point out that you leftist, Democratic, Commie viewpoint that the government is supposed to protect the US population from the excesses of business interests has to go! We can't have profitability negatively impacted by wimpy attempts to protect the population by regulations. Capitalism is the God-given permission to take what you can as long as you can get away with it - why water it down with Socialist ideas.

It worked! No-one else jumped in with the usual Fox Noise talking points.

For those who somehow think money interests have rights that supersede those of the other 99.8% of the population, I would like to point out that the Constitution starts with "We The People", not "we the tiny minority that controls most of the loot".

LOL! Thanks, I've added that to my modified quote:
