Let us tell the world that we are still the home of the brave. Let us tell the world that we don't need a father figure who tells to be affraid of the big bad wolves in the dark forest. That we don't need a president who would dare say such a thing as "vote for me... or the world will drift toward tragedy." We don't need a security blanket to cuddle us away from the risks of talking to stragers and, yes, even taking their candy if we're in the mood.

Bush has based his entire election, and attempted to drive the whole presidential decision, down to the level of our basest fears rather than our highest hopes. This strategy must be rejected. No American president, regardless of party or whatever else he might accomplish that is good, must ever be allowed to pander to our fears.
