'Diversification' is an over-rated risk-management tool. Position-sizing (as a faction of AUM) and just simple, old-fashion homework (so you're not buying junk) will keep you out of trouble far more effectively.

What you need to do is to write an investment plan in which all the questions you're asking are answered, by yourself, for yourself, because every investor's means, needs, and goals are different.
