RE MY POST #53732 OF 7/18



The two replacements I received yesterday are "faulty" in that they
DO NOT have any provision for normal electrical heat expansion in the
male sleeve that fits into the power socket on the G3 PowerBook.

I did not notice this when I first "connected" ( just thought it was a
"tighter fit" than my original) but when I came to " disconnect" found it
VERY tight and, not wishing to cause damage to the PB, unplugged and
let it all cool down before disconnecting.

That was when I noticed that there was no "expansion gap" in the
sleeve - - - there is one in the original, as there should be in any
electrical power adapter of this design ! !

When I called "tech. support" was amazed that they ALREADY KNEW
about this problem and have been receiving "a few" complaints in the
last few days (no "estimated number" given). Have been asked to
return the "faulty replacements" and SHOULD receive " replacement
replacements" within 10 -14 days ! !

SO - - - CHECK YOUR REPLACEMENT AND, IF IT DOES NOT HAVE AN
"EXPANSION GAP / SLIT" IN THE STAINLESS STEEL SLEEVE OF THE MALE
END OF THE CONNECTION, DO NOT USE IT, YOU CAN DAMAGE THE PB
"FEMALE CONNECTION" ITSELF. (EXPENSIVE TO RECONNECT - - - HAVE
BEEN THRU' THIS BEFORE ON A FRIEND'S LAPTOP)

CALL APPLE AT NO. BELOW AND HAVE THE CORRECT "REPLACEMENT"
SHIPPED TO YOU.
