We met at a party New Year's Eve 1959 in London. I don't remember meeting him, and he didn't like me.....

Fast forward 81/2 years, his trip around the world to try to persuade me to marry him, and he had to give up being a barrister in London, sell encyclopaedias in SF and clean toilets in Sydney to get enough money to get to NZ...and I had to leave there about 5 weeks later...leaving him behind, to work his way back...

But 1967 we married in London, came to America the next morning, and have been celebrating New Year's Eve together ever since. He plans a special restaurant, maybe an early movie, we have a marvelous meal, he takes out the special little book he keeps with a record of all the New Year's Eves we have shared, the restaurant we went to etc, and we read through it, laugh, hug, and go off to whatever midnight party we have been invited to, or to the elaborate Casino and entertainment they have here for us at the Old People's Home.

New Year's Eve is very, very special for us.... a sentimental evening. Oh....he usually has his goals for the year all typed up to show me. He's a nice mix of sentimental and practical!
