Well, I'm in a pretty blue area, actually very blue nearby going back to old tie-dye days, ex hippies that made good, Northern Calif, there's some redneck know it alls around, family off on religious evangelistic missions, but overall still very blue.. Up until a decade or so ago, more I suppose, politics wasn't really openly noted, discussed. We knew, if we thought about it that old so n so, the gun nut was likely voting R, but really didn't know the rest.. I never knew my parents voting, really, suspected, but that generation, at least mine didn't bring it up, might mean a job, friend, etc..

But I found now over the last decade with some prodding, folks would open up, and the majority were pretty liberal, sensible, so it's a lot more relaxed.. One young DINK couple are far right, not sure why, her Day a wacky gun nut, rants and raves, think it's why he quit Telco long ago...

Anyway, it's been a long ride for me, early Union membership, later up the ranks, even elected late in my career, but the younger folk many didn't get it, tried using membership as a tool for their own ends, in fact many of our local leadership were also gun nuts, even dealers, side income opportunities until the paperwork got nasty... RePubs only for the gun control issues, yet were good negotiators problem solvers.. mixed bag..

Ao, all I was saying is that if we only talk amongst our own group, we might think we''re more solidly imbedded than we really are... Need to stay aware, involved.. Harder as we get older...
