Well, yes, the financial press would have to use shares issued and outstanding vs. the diluted share count because the diluted shares are a theoretical number. The assumptions underlying diluted share count are 'if the debt is converted into stock' and 'if stock options are exercised' etc. It's a good question though and shows you're thinking ahead.

In a few weeks when the company reports earnings and files it's next 10Q you should get more clarity on the dilution of the converts. And assuming there was a conversion that should be reflected in the shares outstanding number and therefore in the numbers reported in the financial press.
