One positive note to the tale of the northern bottle-nosed whale which swam up the Thames River and unfortunately died during its rescue:

British culinary sources report that the entire whale was made into bratwurst yesterday. They claim: "It was the beast of Thames, it was the wurst of Thames."

(Groaner warning- and not for you sensitive types from PETA either)

Having seen the Thames river, my first reaction to hearing the news that a whale was up the proverbial creek, as it were, was "how the **** did a WHALE end up in Central London??!!??!!"

My second reaction was, "that's one incredibly stupid whale- can't it tell the difference between seawater and bilge?!"

And my reaction upon hearing that the rescue workers who tried to get the poor thing out got stuck with a GBP300.00 parking bill?
"Well, they've had a whale of a time and now they've got something else to blubber about"
