It's salary review time in less than a month. And I've got a couple of questions. I am a copywriter in Portland, Oregon at a small to mid-sized agency. I've been in the biz for 5 years. I just took this job 7 months ago, and I don't think I got a very good offer...I was hired as part of a creative team - my partner gave them a salary she was comfortable with and it was kinda low. they offered it to both of us. i chickened out and took it. anyway, the salary i want is 17% more than i make now.
1) how do i do that? how do i let someone know that i want my money to be re-evaluated. this job requires a lot of hours and i work on big, global accounts. i should be making 54k and i'm only making 46k. i like the job, but the money is making me feel jipped. i don't know what to say to my boss, or if i should say anything - i have, afterall, only been here 7 months

2) how do i find out what i'm worth on the market?

thank you headhunters!
