What do I have to do to get the freebie from equifax (or any CRA)? I could mail them with a copy of my rejection letter. Or maybe they already know I was turned down and if I contact them they will know that I'm entitled to a free one?

On your rejection letter it will list the agency or agencies used to access your report. If this was Equifax you can call their automated line which should be listed on your denial letter same goes for Trans Union, they usually mail them to you in 72 hours. However if they used Experian then you can get a FREE report ONLINE. Just go to and enter your information, it will asked you if you have denied credit in the last 60 days, click yes and you will get you report right online, unfortunatelt EQ and TU don't do this only snail mail.
