I am a newbee and have yet to learn the jargen. What does PTE stand for in the snap shot of Portugal Telecom, S.A. stock symble (PT). The stock rose 12% to PTE 587.84B. Does this mean it rose to 587.84 billion or a percentage to earings of 12%. I am confuses? Can anyone tell me what this means. That is the PTE part.

I do believe PTE may stand for "pesetas", the monetary unit of Portugal.

Thank you for the information, I was wondering how many Pesetas are in a Escudos or vice a versa. Which is the bigger unit.
