What duty, if any, do the ultra rich owe to the greater good?

Sounds like you are asking for a return of Noblesse Oblige.

IMHO, some of these ultra rich are riddles wrapped in mysteries inside enigmas.

Bezos is working on Space X, essentially trying to take NASAs place. Does he not realize he couldn't even begin to realize Space X without all his extra personal wealth?

Buffet talks about raising taxes on the rich, often comparing his secretary's pay to his while glossing over all his "business expenses" that give him the ultra rich lifestyle. He says he will give his fortune away when he dies, why not now?

Gates talked a good game with his foundation. The divorce news/rumors make it sound like he was a creep and this could have been part of a redemption/cover up.

Nobody is perfect, you need to be careful who you make your hero/role model.

I do practice a little bit of Noblesse Oblige, I help where I can and where I see fit. But killing the goose the laid the golden egg is going in the wrong direction. More money for a larger government is not going to help the situation.
