What I did were "Direct Rollovers" from my old company 401K (which I left in April) and the other IRA accounts I had at Janus. I then opened an IRA money market with Vanguard and had everything rolled into it. I then parcelled it into 6 Vanguard IRA index funds. (the Coffeehouse portfolio). I basically just consolidated all my pre-tax retirement
accounts.
What my question was if I were to withdraw anything within a year of
depositing with Vanguard would I face a short term capital gains
situation?
Or am I simply confused with the whole withdrawal process?
Nobody said retiring was going to be simple. So when do I find
time to go boating and golf?
It's Christmas Eve and time for the shrimp cocktail and apricot
brandy. (Very old family tradition)
Merry Christmas all,
Jim
