Former White House advisor Steve Bannon's refusal to cooperate with the investigation into the January 6 insurrection suggests that he and former President Donald Trump worked together to plan the day's actions, Rep. Liz Cheney charged Tuesday.https://www.yahoo.com/news/steve-bannon-not-cooperating-sugg...Is that what's happening? Is Bannon hiding something? Probably, but is he hiding coordination with Trump? Or simply coordination with the organizers and extremists at the event--with Trump remaining in the realm of "plausible deniability"...A day before the unrest, Bannon promised viewers of his online show that "all hell is going to break loose," as detailed in a report released this month by the committee. "It's not going to happen like you think it's going to happen," he continued, adding that "it's going to be quite extraordinarily different. All I can say is, 'strap in.'"Hopefully we find the answer to that, but I don't think that is why Bannon is refusing to answer the subpoena. I think his motivation lies more within the following:1) Doesn't think this Congress has the authority--he has no respect for the authority of the Democrats. In his statement denying the subpoena, he claimed executive privilege on behalf of "President Trump"--worded as if Trump were still the one with authority.2) He wants to further degrade the authority of all institutions--in this case Congress. By refusing to bow before Congress, he is making his point, probably willingly playing the victim to make it look like the "Establishment" are the fascists when they put him in jail.3) He believes he will get away with it. He probably figures his lawyers can fight it until the mid-term elections, the GOP takes over the House, and the select committee is disbanded. At worst, he spends a couple months in jail making himself into a "martyr" for the cause. In any case, he likely skates and achieves his goal of making the Democrats and Congress look impotent.Meanwhile GOP candidates across America, who have sworn their loyalty to Trump, will be preaching about the importance of the "rule of law" as they campaign to take over Congress next year.We live in dangerous times.
