What is the deadline for rolling over a traditional IRA into a conversion Roth IRA for 1998 in order to be eligible for the 4 year tax spread and qualify under our 1998 AGI? Was the deadline Dec 31, 1998 or is it April 15, 1999?

sorry it was Dec 31 1998. you might be able to convert the IRA and not spread it out for the 4 years till april 15th but why pay the taxes now?? the other option I have seen mentioned is to just convert the IRA a portion at time. Ie 30% 40% 55% and the last of it. the numbers were chosen to keep the amounts equal or close to it for the 4 years.
