What kind of universal coverage is he referencing? His coverage was employer-based. It was a benefit from his job. Nothing universal about it.

I am not even sure one could call it single payer - and if he was terminated, he would still would be without coverage just everyone else.

Ask any vet that was discharged with something less than honorable - they get NO military benefits in most cases.
