What the Repubs should do is immediately agree to not oppose anything Obama wants to do regarding taxes, spending, and the economy. The Repubs don't need to vote in favor, just simply abstain.

Maybe they should use a two-pronged approach.

First they should introduce individual pieces of legislation to achieve specific objectives -- tax reform, ObamaCare repeal, entitlement reform, reduce current spending, and any other policies that need to be fixed to achieve strong economic growth and fiscal soundness. They should stop negotiating with Democrats. Period. And they should stop trying to do all these package deals.

Once these get voted down by Democrats, as they surely will, then they could just vote "Present" on the Democrat bills so that they won't be seen as "obstructionist" or as supportive of the bills. Hopefully, voters will eventually make the connection between the cratering economy and fiscal situation and the Democratic policies that caused it.
