What ThyPeace said! I don't know whether you realise it, but the changes you've made and what you've achieved are the sort of thing people pay good money to be shown how to do it.....and still don't produce results like yours. A winning formula.

A 40 lb drop in bodyweight is good enough in itself but the way you've done it has probably produced far more non-scale victories than you realise. Plenty of functional movement.....walking, pushing and pulling, lifting heavy things and putting them down again is the perfect workout plan for everyone but especially for folk with metabolic syndrome and diabetes that goes far beyond burning a few more calories than sitting on yer bum.

The biggest "disposal unit" for blood glucose are muscles but they don't do it very well when they're not being worked. Also, over the long term your pushing pulling etc will produce more muscle (maybe you've noticed this with how much more you can lift etc than when you started?) Always a good thing.
