I am 56, single, zero debt. I do not have a house; pay rent of $1140/mo (expensive area). Salary is $58,000/yr. Have $10,000 in 401k (80% stocks; 20% bonds). Just started ROTH IRA (REITS) which now has $500 in it. Have an efund of less than $1,000. No other savings. I'd like to retire before I'm 70 but as it's going now, it looks like I'll have to work till age 76. My question is what can I do to be able to retire before I'm 76? What should I be investing in? How should I be investing? I'm just not sure the best way to invest my money and I'm very new to investing. It's overwhelming. And the idea of my having to work till I'm 76 is depressing Thanks very much.
