When traveling to poorer countries, I always get some balloons. They are light and easily packable. Kids love balloons, and such trivial things are not high on family budgets in third world countries. A good memory was in Cambodia at dinner one night. The rain came and flooded the street, and kids were playing in the water. I blew up about 10 balloons and tossed them out there - they went nuts.
