Hi. This is the first board I've found that's geared towards bond investing and I've seen a few threads discussing brokers so I'm hoping someone here will be able to answer my questions. I'm looking to trade corporate bonds including distressed and defaulted. I currently have an E*Trade account which uses BondDesk (now part of Tradeweb) for bond trading. It feels like their selection is small since they don't have some bonds available to trade. Is this true? For example I see they have Exide Technologies '18 seniors but not the '13 converts or Suntech Power '13. I'm currently leaning towards TD Ameritrade (Knight BondPoint). How well do they fare against others like E*Trade and Interactive Brokers for bond trading? Does TD allow less than $5,000 face value trade or is there a minimum per order? Is their commission (markup) competitive to other brokers'? For example how much would a $5,000 or less trade on average costs (versus ~$10 for E*Trade and Zions Direct)? Any helpful answers, comments and suggestions would be appreciated.
