The average job used to come with benefits and a pension, maybe even a benfit that includes tuition if you take college level classes.

Now ... not so much. Maybe if you can get a full time job you have health insurance. If you opt for the premium plan you might pay $600 per month for a family and still have a $1500 individual deductible. In stead of a pension you get 2% of your salary matched in your 401k.

Even employee discounts are things of the past. Some still offer employee discounts, they just offer them to everyone.

I don't think the benefits of being on walfare have gotten any better. It is just that being employed is worth a lot less than it used to be.
