Can someone confirm this? I was getting worried that those Bell Labs scientists were starting to give JDSU scientists some competition.

It's something to think about. LU has always been both a customer and a competitor to JDSU. For the most part the stuff LU makes it consumes itself. Still, LU makes optical component sales to the market. These sales are not a significant portion of LU's revenue when compared to their other business lines. This point highlights one of the challenges for JDSU going forward: balancing its relationships with companies that sit on both sides of the table.
