Why not let your sibling in on the idea? Get her to sit down with you one afternoon, visit the site, and show her how it works. Then she can help pick out the stocks, and she'll have an idea of what she's getting into. She'll also be able to ask you for help through first time investing jitters. It's still a wedding gift, just not a surprise, and one that she'll enjoy more since she gets to be a part of it.

Partly because I can't sit down one on one with her because I'm in CA and she's in FL. It's difficult to talk about things like that over the phone, you know? When I fly out for the wedding, I'm only going to be there a couple of days, and she'll have lots of other things on her mind. . . .

I'll work something out though! Thanks for your suggestions everyone!
